The Poetic Future

Slam X, first AI to win the Nobel Prize in Literature

by Kevin T McEneaney

Very soon AI robots will write poems,

and poets can retire to the tavern

where they will booze, gossip the day away,

stumble back home to choose one of the fifty

poems the AI bot has “written” that day.

EVERYBODY can now be a poet:

one just needs to recognize the best poem

that the AI bot has composed that day.

Who says one’s editorial judgment

is not in itself a great work of art?

The best part of this new situation

is that the bot will do all the typing.

AI robots will also give readings

at colleges, floral shops, tony clubs….
