One is really two

by Kevin T McEneaney

In quantum theory an atom can be

in two places at the same moment,

say, New York City and San Francisco;

a poet can be in two locations—

like the classical Greek world,

as well as the current post-modern world;

or the Romantic era where writing

privileged personal perspectives on life,

culture, childhood, politics, irony,

a way of inventing a double vibe.

A poet is like a chameleon,

who, like an actor, may don many masks.

Metaphors resemble an actor’s mask….
