mid-winter ice melt
small humps of ice
dirty, not nice
fevered plant or two
poke ice-crust through
as snow evaporates
landscape translates
birds less frantic
at feeder less panic
eye of bridge,
ice on ridge
creek brimming bank
harsh screech of hawk
wet-matted leaves
gentle cool breeze
treading soft earth
elevates joy of life
