The magic of Christmas resides in myth:
that wandering star, noble Magi yarn;
young shepherds in fields, cute cradle in barn;
the marvelous mystery of childbirth;
a choir of angels singing great joy
to people of good will around the globe—
those who bear the burden of heavy load
and are cheered by the good news of that boy.
Christmas is much more than its many parts:
carols, hymns, ornaments, and gift-giving,
which re-orientates outlook to love
as Christ enriches out minds and hearts.
May that old Christmas magic be ringing,
arriving at the core of love singing.
