A master guitar player can hang you
up on a note, thrill you with a quick chord,
make you dream a dream you wanted to dream,
let the world seem to be a better place,
land the slightest smile on your poker face.
Yet it’s not the strumming but the plucking
that delivers arresting notes to the ear
where appreciation is amazement
supplied by chords with arresting notes
which transport one to alternative thought.
Among the repertoire of instruments,
guitar is a gregarious friend.
The wonderful thing about a guitar:
it will tell an audience who you are!
