To stand by the womb when a child is born
conjures central wonder of life on earth.
For a mother to push out her newborn
to the comfort and hope of family
is a miracle gift from Otherworld.
We are here today to celebrate birth
in all its mystery and fertile joy:
hope that a child will make a difference
in curing ills of social disfunction.
And, thus, we sing together of this joy,
affirm our commitment to each other,
embrace your neighbor with all good wishes.
Let tongue and vocal cords acclaim this joy:
Let us, together, shout Alleluia!
