True! Paris is a cynical city
with jokes about stupid politicians,
the ignorance of the hordes of tourists,
waitresses most willing to pad your bill,
mean corruption of their local gendarmes,
the inept management of museums,
the certainty of inclement weather,
which when fog lifts, the sun shines with a glaze
that offers the stroller a wonderland….

And do not forget that Paris features
the Pont Neuf, that bridge of dizzy lovers
where pilgrims display their lucky lockets.
That bridge is the most filmed bridge in the world,
and if you have not been there, you should go!
