Secrets of Nature

by Kevin T McEneaney

In Poland, there are mysterious trees,

a small forest of about four hundred.

These trees have a sinister, crooked base.

*

Scientists are still puzzled about this,

since they can’t determine how this happened.

These trees possess an eerie aesthetic,

a weird, enchanted, slithering aspect.

*

The trees all remain healthy specimens.

Perhaps they experienced a wounding

from a mild volcanic overflow?

Maybe an unidentified virus?

Might persistent snowfall have produced this?

*

We live in a diverse world of wonder

where enigmas challenge our intellect….
