Annual Insect Conference

by Kevin T McEneaney

(for Earth Day)

Insects around the globe held a meeting

to address the problem of climate change.

President Queen Bee from Argentina

argued for the banning of chemicals.

Premiere Wasp from Outer Mongolia

declared that all should burrow down in earth

until humans eliminated themselves.

Butterflies were not permitted to speak.

General Achilles, leader of black ants,

argued that red ants were the real problem,

promising their final eradication

within twelve years with complete victory,

no matter what the climate on earth was.

As usual, nothing was accomplished.
