Star-Gazing

by Kevin T McEneaney

We have new pictures of the universe

which show a large slice of immensity.

With our super-roving space telescope

we can see a fraction of creation.

Is this but one universe or many?

We don’t know and maybe will never know,

yet we plan and hope to know everything

while we know that is but aspiration.

For millennia we have looked to stars

with wonder in our hearts and intellect.

Despite the current James Webb excitement,

we are no closer to understanding

what is happening when we look upward

to see a multitude of stars blinking!
