Let it be

by Kevin T McEneaney

In the beginning our universe

was smaller in volume than an atom,

while after the Big Bang its inflation

is so vast we cannot see its extent,

yet scientists think that it is now “flat”

and still expanding, accelerating

ever faster every second of time

into a macroscopic entity

larger than we are able to conceive.

*

There is no common present in the world;

each atom contains its own present time;

each person their unique identity

with their talents, achievements, dreams, passion.

Yet everything in the end is but dust.
