Oceanic perspective

by Kevin T McEneaney

You may have a favorite dawn songbird

sing by your window to entertain you,

yet only whales and humans have music.

*

Whales have been trying to communicate

with sapiens unsuccessfully

for at least two hundred years or longer.

Whales possess much larger brains than humans,

but they are confined to deep ocean waters,

while we can roam over both land and sea.

*

Indigenous whales would want a treaty

which would be ecologically sound,

preserving the variety of life

that lives and breathes in the world-wide ocean….
