The Northern Mockingbird, famous for song,
is the state bird of Texas, Florida,
Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee.
Not only can a male imitate birds,
they can imitate other animals,
an alarm clock, the sound of a car horn,
as well as hundreds of other bird calls.
They remain the greatest singers of songs!
*
Their process of sexual selection is to blame,
since females prefer the oddest of songs.
In Florida, during mating season,
males love to attack the heads of golfers.
*
Unmated mockingbirds are known to sing
the whole night long to impress female birds….
