Those rainy days in Spring are a pleasure
to a prospective gardener sorting
seed packets that whisper in shushing sounds….
I like the sound of rain on windowpane,
that moist scent of what the future may hold.
*
Returning birds fill the air with chatter,
gurgling creeks running to foam waterfalls,
magnolia trees bloom in wondrous pink,
patches of green appear with confidence,
buds on trees bloom in radiant sunlight,
ant colonies dispatch wandering scouts….
*
Our brains are powerful storytellers.
The ecstatic song of returning Spring
remains the oldest story that we have.
