The Smithfield Church in Amenia, New York, is proud to welcome organ virtuoso Kent Tritle to its historic 1893 Johnson tracker organ for his annual performance in benefit of the Oratorio Society of New York, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
Mr. Tritle will play a varied and interesting program including classic works by J.S. Bach, Buxtehude, Frescobaldi, and modern composers Jean Demessieux and Rachel Laurin.
An anticipated annual event for local music lovers, this will be the fourteenth appearance of Kent Tritle in the intimate setting of the historic Smithfield Church. In addition to his renown on the tracker organ and his position as organist for the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Tritle is also hailed as one of America’s leading choral conductors. He is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City; the Grammy-nominated Music Director of the Oratorio Society of New York; and Music Director of Musica Sacra, New York’s elite professional chorus.
Of note, this year’s performance will begin one-half hour earlier than in previous years.
Suggested donation is $25 at the door, but all are welcome. Children are free, as is parking. For handicapped attendees, there is an elevator at the Church front door.
