Today, on Valentine’s Day, young children
draw hearts, hoping to love one another
in the face of massive gun violence,
now the leading cause of death for children.
Over thirty-six thousand deaths per year!
We are now at war within our own country.
If we lost that many in foreign wars,
our citizens would stop those obscene wars,
yet since we worship the Almighty Gun,
nothing can be done to stop massacre.
A young girl freed Valentine from prison.
Who will free us from this dreadful nightmare?
When will love begin to breathe in the air?
