In the nineteenth century, we thought we
were more intelligent than animals,
and that we were not animals ourselves.
*
In the twentieth century, we thought
machines as stupid as a doornail,
yet we needed to tolerate machines.
*
In the twenty-first century, we think
machines to be much smarter than we are,
and depend upon machines to guide us.
*
We are now inferior to machines,
and believe that the rich are living gods
who are more intelligent than we are.
*
Whatever happened to good common sense?
What happened to our sense of humor?
